Privacy Policy
App: La mia luna (on the App Store: "La mia luna: Moon Phases")
Version: 1.0 · Effective from: 27 October 2026
In short
- La mia luna is an iPhone and Apple Watch app that shows you the Moon from your place: when it rises and sets, where to look, the phase and the calendar. It is made by Francesca Barchietto, a private individual in Italy. She is the data controller.
- We do not collect data. There is no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking tools, and we have no server. All Moon calculations happen on your iPhone and your Apple Watch.
- The place you choose stays on your devices: on the iPhone, in the widgets and on your Apple Watch. We never receive it.
- Some things go through Apple, not through us: your location, if you use it, the city search with Apple Maps and the name of the city. Apple's privacy policy applies to those (section 4).
- The app is free, all of it: no subscriptions and no in-app purchases, so no payment data.
- We process personal data only if you email us and, as with any website, when you visit the website (sections 5 and 6).
1. Who is responsible for your data
The data controller is:
Francesca Barchietto, private individual
Strada Garella 78, 13900 Biella (BI), Italy
Email: info@lamialuna.it
No data protection officer (DPO) has been appointed. For any privacy question, write to the address above.
In this policy "we" means Francesca Barchietto, who develops the app and is responsible for it.
2. What this policy covers
It covers:
- the La mia luna app for iPhone, with its widgets;
- the La mia luna app for Apple Watch, with its complications;
- the website lamialuna.it;
- the emails you send us.
It does not cover the Apple services you use with the app, such as the App Store, Maps, Location Services and iCloud. Apple's privacy policies apply to those.
3. What stays only on your devices
This information stays only on your iPhone and your Apple Watch. We do not receive it and cannot see it:
- the chosen place: name, coordinates and time zone. It is kept in the app's storage and shared with the widgets and the Apple Watch app. It reaches the Apple Watch from your iPhone through Apple's connection between the two devices (WatchConnectivity);
- the alerts: which ones you turned on. Notifications are local: your iPhone schedules them, no server sends them;
- the calculations: phases, times, directions and the Moon's altitude.
If you delete the app, this information is deleted with it.
4. What goes through Apple
Some features use Apple services. In these cases the data goes to Apple, not to us, and Apple's privacy policy and your iPhone settings apply.
- "Use my location". It is optional: you can always search for a city instead. If you choose it, iOS asks for permission "while using the app". The app asks for your location once, with an accuracy of about one kilometre. To write the name of the city, the coordinates go to Apple's service that finds the name of a place.
- City search. What you type in the search goes to Apple Maps, which suggests places.
- Apple Watch. If you use "Use the watch", the Apple Watch asks for its location as above.
- Apple's analytics and crash reports. If in your iPhone settings you chose to share analytics with app developers, Apple shows us summary data: downloads, versions, crash reports of the app. It does not tell us who you are.
5. The website
The website is hosted by Firebase Hosting (Google). Like any web server, to show you the pages and protect them from abuse it logs the IP address, the browser type and the pages requested. Google keeps these logs for a limited time. We do not use them to find out who you are.
The website uses no cookies, no analytics, no ads, and loads no content from other sites.
6. The emails you send us
If you write to us, we receive your email address, what you write and what you attach. Emails arrive through Squarespace, which manages the lamialuna.it domain and forwards mail sent to info@lamialuna.it (through its provider Mailgun), as our processor. The mail arrives in a Gmail mailbox, Google's email service, where we read it and reply from: Google handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. We use them only to reply to you. We keep them as long as your request needs, and at most 12 months after our last reply. Then we delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them.
7. Why we process your data, and on what legal basis
| What | Why | Legal basis (GDPR) |
|---|---|---|
| The emails you send us | Replying to you | Steps you ask for (Art. 6(1)(b)) and our legitimate interest in giving support (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
| Website logs | Showing you the pages and protecting the website | Our legitimate interest in a safe, working website (Art. 6(1)(f)) |
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions, and we do not sell it.
8. Transfers outside the European Union
Google, for the website and the Gmail mailbox, Squarespace and Mailgun, for forwarding mail (section 6), and Apple, for the services in section 4, may process data in the United States. All of them take part in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission found adequate (decision of 10 July 2023), and provide for the Commission's standard contractual clauses if the Framework stopped applying.
9. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its use or receive it in a readable format. You can also object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to the email in section 1: we reply within one month.
For the data that stays on your devices (section 3) you don't need to ask: you delete it yourself by deleting the app.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority of the country where you live.
10. Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data. If you are under 14, ask a parent before writing to us.
11. Changes to this policy
If the app starts using a new kind of data or a new service, we update this policy before that version of the app, raise the version number and the date at the top, and say so on the website.
